In
Memory of Jim Ongman - June 2007
As
Director of Facility Operations at
Visual Imagry, Jim Ongman was responsible
for management of photography, floor/site
plans, data collection and training.
His extensive experience in commercial
construction, coupled with experience
and training in photography and web
design, made him a natural for this
role.
Jim also served as project manager for Building and Construction Interface for VIPlanning®.
As such, he was responsible for overseeing testing and adaptation of HTML preplans.
He also converted more than 400 AutoCAD files for use in developing the HTML
preplans for the Washoe and Humboldt County
School Districts in Nevada.
Facilitating and team building were Jim’s hallmarks.
He
co-managed the development
of HTML preplans for the
following
projects
from March 2006
until May 2007:
- Washoe
County School District (NV)
116 facility HTML preplans
- Humboldt
County School District (NV)
16 facility HTML preplans
- Bishop
Manogue Catholic High School
(NV)
1 facility HTML preplan
- Developed
VIPlanning® Software Training
Modules
Jim's love of computer technology didn't stop at simply creating HTML preplans.
He also developed training movies for the 2007 release of VIPlanning® 6.2
Software.
Commercial
Construction Background
Though Jim had been employed mostly as a commercial construction superintendent,
he worked in a full range of construction roles including data management,
project management and project planning. Projects ranged from ground up construction
using various means and methods, to remodels including seismic upgrades. He
had been a pioneer in using the computer in each of these situations. Most
of these jobs, many of which were occupied remodels, required extensive coordination
with subcontractors, municipalities, owners and staff.
Disaster
Recovery
Project
Manager & Superintendent
Jim surveyed multiple Sears’ stores throughout Western
Washington with a structural engineer for damage after the regional
earthquake. He also coordinated
with subcontractors for repairs and was tasked with overseeing repairs and
retrofits.
