Architects Supporting Healthy Schools

The evolution of school design through the decades has been influenced by many site-specific issues. Each plays an important part in providing for a safe and secure school facility. Today's architects are tasked with responding to these challenges and building safe schools.

Given increasing concerns about environmental contributors to rising rates of asthma, immune system dysfunctions, chemical sensitivities and learning disabilities among school age children, many architects are embracing the concept of designing Healthy Schools working more effectively to ensure children have safe and healthy school environments in which to learn.

  • Architects that support Healthy Schools endorse:
    • High Performance School Design/Construction consistent with children's needs for healthy environments;
    • Greening Existing Schools; and
    • Environmental Public Health for Children who are disproportionately affected by environmental exposures.

With VIPlanning® software architects can easily provide with digital photos, contacts, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PDF files to help them with their ongoing HTML school safety audits, emergency disaster preparedness or facility operations planning efforts.

VIPlanning® Software allows schools to maintain these HTML plans with a minimal investment of valuable time. Once the foundation information has been created, any of these HTML plans can be modified in minutes not hours.
