Region III (CA) Re-Designs NorCalBT.com Web Site
NorCalBT Project Participants

California - "It was time to update our Region's disaster preparedness web site," explained John Duffy, Emergency Response Coordinator for Shasta County Public Health. "Our goal was to assure that each month we are posting vital information and resources that can help all California Region III residents become more disaster prepared."

NorCalBT.com was launched after a complete re-design by Visual Imagry. One of the new feature developed by Visual Imagry, Inc. allows for each county to upload press releases and public health updates to their county's home page. The most recent Region III emergency preparedness press releases can be accessed from the main home page www.norcalbt.com.

Other web site features include county and Regional events calendars and libraries for sharing links and documents.

NorCalBT.com, northern California's Disaster Preparedness web site, was originally developed in 2004 by Visual Imagry to provide the 13 rural health departments within the Office of Emergency Services (OES) Mutual Aid Region III (CA) the interactive tools to build an extensive network for bioterrorism / disaster planning, preparing, training, communicating and responding to any public health threat or emergency. The NorCalBT.com web site operates separately and independently of any other county web site.

NorCalBT.com removes the barriers of time and distance between county public health professionals. It strengthens the communications and information technology systems critical to effectively respond to an emergency or disaster that could impact the 750,000 residents that live within the Region’s 34,361 square miles.

The 13 counties that comprise California’s Region III include: Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity and Yuba counties.

The NorCalBT Project Co-Coordinators are John Duffy, Emergency Response Coordinator, Shasta County Public Health and Grinnell Norton, PHN, Bioterrorism Coordinator and Public Health Deputy Director, Glenn County Health Services / Public Health Office.
