Gloria Newton’s career spans over 30 years of education
and training experience.
In 2001, she transitioned from
a Quality Manager and Medical Staff Educator to the public
health sector where she developed and conducted profession
development training for public health staff.
In 2002, Gloria transitioned to public
emergency management where she assumed
the CDC BT grant Education and Training
role. In this role she collaborated
with UCLA to conduct an organization-wide
emergency competency training needs
assessment, and created a training
plan to address identified gaps.
She served as the regional training
coordinator for 13 Northern California
counties and collaborated with local
agencies to develop plans and implement
exercises and drills.
She is an Adjunct Faculty member of
Shasta College, and serves as a faculty
member in the California Preparedness
Education Network through which she
provides instruction and tabletop exercises
to North State healthcare agencies
and schools.
Ms. Newton has served on the training
advisory group to the California Department
of Health Services to help create the
Pandemic Influenza and Public Health
Law tabletop exercise.
