Here are a few suggestions for your disaster preparedness kit:

1. A COLLAR AND TAG
A proper fitting collar and an identification tag should be kept on your dog at all times. You may also want to include a phone number that is out of the area in case you are forced to evacuate and can not be reached by your local phone number. You might even want to talk to your vet about microchipping.

2. FIRST AID KIT
Check with your veterinarian to find out what he/she recommends for you to include in your animal’s first aid kit.

3. CRATE or CAGE
You might want to consider purchasing a crate or cage to contain your animal in case of a disaster. This can be used for transportation or even a place for housing your pet.

(Just a note from the author: We own a cat that is very shy. She was afraid of the cat carrier so I found a place in the den and put a blanket in it and her cat toy. It didn’t take long before she found her way in there and now finds that a great place to rest. And sometimes I just take her for a ride in the car.)

4. BLANKET AND TOYS
Why not consider a blanket or toys that you could add to your disaster preparedness kit?

5. TRAVEL BOWL SET
